Preachers and Language

Preachers must learn to love grammar! They must make an effort to understand how language functions. If they don’t, it is impossible for them to do their work. It is true that the Bible is a divinely inspired book. But it is still a book. And it must be read like a book. We must respect the basic grammatical sense of its words and phrases.

Preachers and Language

A True Preacher

The Bible can be studied by a man at his desk. But that man cannot be a true exegete, and a true preacher, unless in his heart he is studying on his knees. Exegesis is hard work. It is a self imposed academic discipline. But, before all that, it is an act of worship.
