Mark Loughridge recommends some reading for pastors by Don Whitney. I have not heard of him before but his article, The Almost Inevitable Ruin of Every Minister is food for thought for any pastor or would-be pastor.

Great link. I’ll actually have the privilege of hearing Don Whitney in person when he comes to our church this May for our annual church conference, focusing on balancing our priorities in living the Christian life.
The article is great in that it points pastors to keeping watch over their own spiritual walk, which I imagine is hard to do when you are shepherding so many others. This is a great argument for ruling by a council of elders, rather than the more common arrangement (at least here in the USA) of Senior Pastor, Associate pastor, etc.
